KB940510 kodunu taşıyan güncelleştirme “Önemli” sınıflandırmasında yayınlandığı için otomatik güncelleştirmesi açık olan sistemlerde sorgusuz sualsiz yüklenecek. Daha önce bu güncelleştirmenin Vista SP1 ile birlikte piyasaya sürüleceği düşünülüyordu ancak Microsoft güncelleştirmeyi Windows Update ile dağıtmayı tercih etti.
